Gwenych

How long have you been playing WoW?

I am playing since September 2013

How did you start playing WoW?

I honestly don’t have a gaming background. As a kid I surely liked my super Nintendo and went bananas on Donkey Kong and Super Mario Cart but after my console broke I just stopped playing and pursued other interests. However, once I started dating Ryan (Kulwych) I was suddenly exposed to online role-play games and gaming communities and something called “guild”, “darkwind” and “WOW”. I watched him playing (raiding) and the complexity of the game irritated me and I was not thrilled at all. As our relationship turned into a marriage he encouraged me to explore his PS1/PS2 game collection and I became fond of Legend of Mana J. Later he introduced me to other games including GW2 which I started to love for it’s beautiful design and graphics. First Ryan and I would play frequently but then he started to compare GW2 with WOW and found more and more flaws in their concept. Eventually he stopped playing and I lost interest, too, as I missed my gaming buddy. A little later Ryan installed WOW on my computer and insisted that I give it a try. Rather reluctant I created Kulwench (Gwenych) and discovered Elwyn forest. I think I only continued playing WOW because I enjoyed the community. I remember that I was thrilled when I received my first letter by Squee (along with some goodies) and when Larinde came to help me with my quest <3 <3

Favorite race/class/spec?

I might step on some toes but I can’t stand the elves. The ears just look ridiculous ugly and the fact that they move when you run or jump is just gross. I also have no warm words for Dranei and their tails/tentacles/extension cords (?). However, I do like gnomes a lot because I like their squeaky and friendly personalities. Unfortunately their size makes me uncomfortable in battle and so I pick humans most of the time. My favorite classes are (ranged) Hunter, (melee) DK and (healing) Shaman. Among these I love hunters most because I have a pet that picks up loot for me.

Why Darkwind?

Darkwind is not (only) a guild, it’s a family.

If Blizzard were to shut down all servers tomorrow, what game are you playing?

I likely would turn to some of my neglected crafting projects and give gaming a break for a while.

One awesome memory you have from WoW?

I am by no means a competitive person but I hate being the last/worst or lowest ranked. Therefore raiding can sometimes be extreme frustarting for me since I hardly can keep up with other DPS player in our guild. Not to mention my lovely husband whose damage is regularly twice as high as mine. However, two weeks ago we run LFR with some guild folks and I was proud to realize that I ranked in the top six for damage done on all boss encounters. This really encouraged me and gave me hope that one day I might be a good player of my class.

What’s your favorite thing to do in game?

The other day I went to Lion’s Landing in Karaseng to pick up my dailies. There I witnessed an overambitious Horde player (Warrior) fighting with our NPC guard (the one that had my quest). I patiently waited for his health to drop below 50% and then I stampeded him. I had my mischievous moment.

What random event would you like to see Darkwind do?

Invade as a team a Horde town and kill the king/major/governor/chief.

Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?

I choose the horse sized duck. Once I tamed the monster I might be able to use it as a mount!

If you were a giant mega monster, what city would you rampage?

Given the chance I would rampage Gatlinburg, TN and Sevierville, TN. Why? I did not expect to spend my honeymoon in a traffic jam.
